Ben Stiller Talks Falling In Love With Wife Christine Taylor

During this holiday season, Ben Stiller is currently out promoting his new holiday movie The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. As the holiday season is upon us, Stiller candidly opened up about his family, specifically about falling in love with his younger wife and actress Christine Taylor.

Ben Stiller, 48, and Christine Taylor, 42, only dated for a few months before getting engaged. Years later, and Stiller reminisced about how he popped the question, revealing that just like Meet The Fockers, it was both an intimidating and nerve-wracking situation to be in.

First, Stiller told Parade magazine about how fast he fell for wife Christine Taylor:

“[Our] relationship was a gradual thing that happened over a quick period of time, maybe seven or eight months. We just started hanging out with each other and it developed into, ‘Wow, this feels great. I really like this person. I think I love this person. I really do – I love this person.’ It hit me out of the blue.”

That was a whopping fifteen years ago. At the time, Taylor was a budding actress who gained recognition for films like The Wedding Singer, and The Brady Bunch. These days, Taylor sticks to being mom to their two children: daughter, Ella, 11, and son, Quinlin, 8.

Before welcoming children into the world, Stiller only had one person to impress, and that was Taylor’s intimidating father. Stiller told the magazine:

“It was like Meet the Parents in real life, because Christine’s father is an intimidating guy who owns a security company; we’re good friends now, but at the time I was in the basement rec room saying, ‘I really would like to marry your daughter.”

The actor continued:

“He’s a man of few words but he was very welcoming. I was more nervous asking him than asking her.”

Stiller also isn’t shy about talking up his children, mostly because they’re pretty adjusted for having two famous parents.

“I can see aspects of myself in them, but I also see two totally unique individuals. And I wonder how they became so well adjusted!”

Ben Stiller’s new film The Secret Life of Walter Mitty hits theaters on December 25.
