Reno Shooting Spree Ends In Suicide

A shooting spree at a Reno medical building ended with two people dead and another two in critical condition. One of the deceased was the gunman who turned his weapon on himself following the shooting.

Tom Robinson of the Reno, Nevada, Police Department said that a motive for the shooting has not been established, but according to him, it was not a random act by the gunman.

A technician, Kat Raco, who works in the building where the shooting occurred, reported to CNN that she heard loud bangs, and the sound of people running above her.

The gunman entered the Nevada Advanced Medicine facility via the urology office and then opened fire while doctors were seeing to patients.

Police arrived at the scene quickly and instructed people in the building and surrounding buildings to lock their doors and remain vigilant.

Raco said about the police handling of the Reno shooting:

“The police handled it in the best way possible. They were very professional and calm. Everyone (in the office) stayed pretty calm.”

Following the shooting, police have said that they are yet to interview around 25 witnesses as questions are asked as to why no armed guards are retained in the area where the shooting took place.

The University of Nevada police sent out an emergency Tweet earlier in the day informing people that there was an active shooter in the area, and instructed people to find a safe place to hide.

It is not clear what the reason or motive behind the Reno shooting was as local authorities try to piece together the events which led up to it. They will also be trying to establish what security measures went wrong which allowed it to happen.
