Kelly Rowland was engaged to boyfriend Tim Witherspoon last month, thus confirming rumors in the media that wedding bells were imminent. The rumors of the engagement were sparked when the Destiny’s Child singer was spotted wearing a diamond ring.
Kelly, who was a guest on The Queen Latifah Show yesterday, revealed that Tim actually “popped the question” months ago during a Skype call, while she was in Bulgaria.
She said: “He asked me first on Skype, and I was like, ‘We’re so far away from each other.’” Fortunately though not too far away as she confirmed that finally: “He put a ring on it.”
At least from Kelly Rowland’s point of view , it was a romantic thing for Tim to propose marriage via Skype:
“I remember we were both just kinda like, honestly, just staring at each other. And he asked me, and it was just that simple to say yes. I was like, ‘I got my best friend to ride through life with.’ He really is my best friend,” she said.
With that, Kelly shared that she has, in fact, been engaged for quite a while, and certainly from way before the media rumors started.
She spoke about how she has successfully managed to keep her private life private and out of the public eye: “It’s been a while. We’ve kept it very, very low – for years, to be completely honest.”
Even though Kelly Rowland was previously engaged to football star Roy Williams, her marriage to Tim Witherspoon will be her first. She almost married Williams back in 2005, but the couple split just a couple of months before the wedding.
Tim will certainly be hoping that he doesn’t encounter the same fate and that all will go according to plan for the wedding day, which is yet to be announced.
