Diane Lane’s Divorce: ‘It’s Not Ugly, It’s Just Over’

Actress Diane Lane’s divorce from actor Josh Brolin has been finalized, according to documents filed November 27 (Happy Thanksgiving!).

Having married in 2004, Diane Lane filed for divorce in February, 2013. Sources told People that the pair had been separated for several months and that the relationship had “run its course.” According to E! Online, an unnamed source says the split is on good terms.

“It is very amicable,” an insider is reported to have said. “It’s not ugly, it’s just over.”

The official split from Diane Lane comes in the wake of Brolin checking into rehab in November. Lane and Brolin had no children together, although Diane Lane has a daughter from her previous marriage to Christopher Lambert; Brolin also has two children from his union with Alice Adair.

Lane had legally changed her name to Diane Lane Brolin, but has since changed it back to Diane Lane.

Diane Lane’s most recent film role was playing Martha Kent, mother to Clark Kent/Superman, in Man of Steel, which received mixed reviews. Lane will reprise the character in the follow-up, Batman vs. Superman, which is currently filming. Batman vs. Superman puts Diane Lane on the same set as much-maligned Dark Knight choice Ben Affleck; the two starred together in Hollywoodland, a fictionalized look into the mysterious death of Superman actor George Reeves (it was officially ruled a suicide).

Man of Steel was released on Blur-ray and DVD in mid-November.

Before Batman vs. Superman hits theaters with its slated 2015 release, fans can see Diane Lane in Every Secret Thing. She stars alongside Elizabeth Banks and Dakota Fanning in a crime drama based on the novel by Laura Lippman.

A detective looks to unravel a mystery surrounding missing children and the prime suspects: two young women who, seven years ago, were put away for an infant’s death.

Diane Lane was signed for the role of Helen Manning by producer Frances McDormand, Deadline reports. Diane’s character is the mother of Alice Manning (Danielle Macdonald), who, alongside Ronnie Fuller (Fanning) is accused in the disappearances.
