Demaryius Thomas Tops 1,000 Yards Receiving For Second Straight Year
Demaryius Thomas came into Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs needing 45 yards to top.the 1,000 yard mark for the second straight season, but after the first series in the game it looked as if he might miss it.
Thomas hurt his shoulder on his team’s first possession, a blow to a team facing its AFC West rival and already dealing with a handful of injuries.
Thomas was originally listed as questionable to return, but was able to continue playing and ended the game with three catches for 106 yards, including a 77-yard catch.
The Broncos went on to win the game 35-28, their second victory over the rival Chiefs this season. The win puts the Broncos in the driver’s seat to win the division and puts them back on track to earning the No. 1 seed in the AFC.
Demaryius Togmas has thrived in the past two years with future Hall of Famer Peyton Manning at quarterback, something he said last year he was preparing for.
“To get to play with a future Hall of Famer, I knew I had to step my game up and get in my book more, run routes more, because I never really ran routes much,” Thomas said last year. So I thought it was gonna be a challenge, and it has been so far. But it’s been good, too.
“You’re gonna have to run the whole route tree now. The comebacks, the slants, the posts, the ins. And I didn’t have to do that much when I was my first couple of years in the league.”
With Demaryius Thomas and fellow receivers Wes Welker and Eric Decker, the Broncos have a nearly unstoppable offense, and are looking to avenge last year’s early playoff exit to the Baltimore Ravens.
