Ricki Lake To Host New Talk Show In 2012

In the 1990’s Ricki Lake’s talk show was full of Jerry Springer type trash talking, who’s the baby daddy topics and various other white trash type episodes, now the queen of trash is heading back to the tube for a much more subdued show.

20th Century Television announced on Thursday that they have begun working on the development of a new show for Lake that will focus on much more adult themes. According to the network the hour long daily program will:

“Present topical conversation reflecting Ricki’s own personal journey and recent life experiences, including family, marriage, parenting, divorce, weight loss and overall well-being.”

While not a mainstay on network television, Lake has hosted various shows, including the CBS’ summer series Game Show Marathon. Lake said of her time away from syndicated television:

“It has been very fulfilling for the past seven years to focus my energy on advocacy work on behalf families and children. Now, I am excited to return to my roots and work with Twentieth Television to develop a talk show that will give me an opportunity to share my experiences and reconnect with audiences.”

With Oprah Winfrey departing the network game in 2012, a familiar name like Ricki Lake makes sense, if fans are willing to once again connect with her.
