‘Family Guy’: Brian Dead, Petition Aims To Bring Him Back

Family Guy‘s Brian is dead, and the fans are not happy. There is a petition going in an effort to bring the Griffins’ dog back, even though some might not be that eager to bring him back.

As it has been shown, Brian was a noticeably racist character, usually barking at black characters or making remarks against African Americans in general. The departure of Cleveland Brown might not have been a coincidence in that case. The death of Brian Griffin seems to be the easiest way to eliminate one of the most racist characters in the show aside from Ollie the weather man. Of course, Peter isn’t much better, but he’s written as the stupid type, so we usually forgive him.

Of course, replacing Brian with Vinny, an Italian dog who won’t take any crap from Stewie, might only bring another racist character into the mix.

For some, the death of Brian on Family Guy isn’t seen as permanent, as previously reported by The Inquisitr.

Fans petitioning to bring back Brian on Family Guy have spoken. Family Guy petitioner Aaron Thompson stated:

“He added a witty and sophisticated element to the show. Family Guy and Fox Broadcasting will lose viewers if Brian Griffin is not brought back to the show … they killed off the dog who has lived in our homes for the last 15 years. They killed the dog we all have come to love. They killed America’s dog!”

Having brought in over 30,000 signatures already, the petition against the death of Brian on Family Guy seems to have already gained momentum.

Executive producer Steve Callahan thinks otherwise, stating that pronouncing Family Guy‘s Brian dead was a “fun way to shake things up.” It was also explained that the character’s departure was a much less traumatic loss than to have anyone else in the family gone. Technically speaking, if one has to go, it might as well be the dog.

The ratings caused Family Guy to get canceled twice already, and it’s presumed that the loss of Brian in favor of Vinny could cause the ratings to plummet once more. The creator of the Family Guy petition has a point, in that Brian Griffin was a much-loved character, and without him, a lot of viewers may stop watching. It appears the producers of Family Guy are taking a “wait and see” policy on the new character, stating that the viewers have been loyal this long, and they’ll get over it. The Twitter reaction has shown quite the opposite. It is unknown at this point whether Family Guy‘s Brian is dead permanently or if the petition or the possible drop in ratings might bring him back.
