Lady Gaga Joins The Muppets For A ‘Holiday Spectacular’

Lady Gaga is joining the Muppets for a “Holiday Spectacular.” The ABC special will also include special appearances by Sir Elton John, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Kristen Bell, and RuPaul. The holiday program will air on Thanksgiving night.

The special will feature several musical numbers. In addition to the expected holiday classics, the program will include Gaga originals as well.

The iconic performer said she was thrilled when ABC approached her with the idea:

I was so excited… I knew it just wouldn’t be a complete night of laughter and memories without the Muppets.”

According to MTV, Kermit the Frog said performing with Gaga is an “incredible opportunity.” He said he is looking forward to the holiday special, despite the fact that Gaga often “mistakes some of the Muppets for pieces of her wardrobe.”

Lady Gaga and the muppets do have quite a history. In 2009, the performer was escorted to the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards by Kermit the Frog. In 2010, Jim Henson’s Creature Shop played a vital role in the production of Gaga’s Monster Ball Tour.

This year’s special will mark Gaga’s second Thanksgiving production for ABC. In 2011, she produced and directed A Very Gaga Thanksgiving. The talented performer was joined by several special guests, including Art Smith, Katie Couric, and Tony Bennett.

Gaga’s latest album, ARTPOP, is already projected to hit number one by the end of next week. If the predictions are correct, it will be the performer’s second number one album since 2011.

As explained by the Jim Henson Legacy, the Muppets were created by Jim Henson in 1955. The lovable puppets made their television debut on a program titled Sam and Friends.

Through the years, the beloved puppets gained worldwide notoriety. Their antics and distinct personalities have captivated children and adults for generations.

Lady Gaga & the Muppets’ “Holiday Spectacular” will air on November 28.
