Cobie Smulders Confirms Her Involvement With ‘The Avengers 2’

Cobie Smulders recently confirmed her involvement with The Avengers 2. However, the actress isn’t sure what role her character will play in the forthcoming sequel.

Although Maria Hill makes an appearance in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, many fans wondered if Smulders would reprise her role in Joss Whedon’s Age of Ultron. According to Coming Soon, she is currently attached to appear in the follow-up.

“I think I’m in Avengers 2, but it is very top secret. I hope I’m in Avengers 2. I didn’t get my invitation yet. Well, actually, they know I’m in it but they don’t know to what degree I’m in it,” Cobie Smulders said during an interview with Calgary Herald.

The actress added, “I am really excited to read the script because they are introducing Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch into the Avengers universe and the bad guy is going to be very interesting.”

This isn’t the first time Cobie Smulders addressed her role in Age of Ultron. The How I Met Your Mother star told MTV News over the summer that she definitely had some research to do about the villainous robot before filming on the sequel begins.

“I don’t know much about Ultron. I have some reading to do, but I’m excited. This is the mystery of Marvel. I don’t know how Maria Hill is affiliated with the Avengers sequel but we’ll see. I’m excited to read the script if it comes my way,” Smulders said.

In case you haven’t kept up with all the Avengers 2 news and rumors as of late, here’s a quick rundown. Kick-Ass 2 star Aaron Taylor-Johnson is reportedly on-board as Quicksilver in Age of Ultron. Although it’s believed Elizabeth Olsen plays the Scarlet Witch, nothing official about her involvement has come down the pipeline as of this writing.

James Spader, meanwhile, was recently hired to tackle the role of Ultron in Joss Whedon’s Age of Ultron. The acclaimed filmmaker said that the Black List star was his first choice for the role of the villain in the sequel.

“He’s got that hypnotic voice that can be eerily calm and compelling, but he’s also very human and humorous. Ultron is not HAL. Spader can play all of the levels. He’s the guy to break the Avengers into pieces,” Whedon explained to the folks at Marvel Studios.
