Nicole Kidman Calls Husband Keith Urban Her ‘Great Love’

Nicole Kidman is getting candid about her husband Keith Urban and telling all exactly how she feels about him. She calls the country star “my great love.”

Kidman admits that when she and former husband Tom Cruise married, they were both young and didn’t really know what they would doing.

“I was so young. And you know, with no disrespect to what I had with Tom, I’ve met my great love now.” the 46-year-old actress told Vanity Fair for its December issue.

Nicole Kidman married Tom Cruise when she was 23-years-old and says that back then she wasn’t sure if she would ever find her true love.

She has characterized her relationship with the Mission: Impossible star as “intoxicating” and adds that for a long while she was alone, because she didn’t want to jump from one relationship to another.

“I had a lot of time alone, which was really, really good, because I was a child, really, when I got married. And I needed to grow up.” Kidman said.

Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise were married from 1990 to 2001 after meeting on the set of their movie Days Of Thunder in 1998.

The actress says her divorce from Cruise happened during the filming of her film The Hours where she played Virginia Woolf, a role for which she received an Oscar.

Kidman recalls shooting the scene in which Woolf commits suicide at the lowest point in her marriage to Cruise.

“Walking into the river with those stones in my pockets — I chose life,” she told Vanity Fair. “At the time, I was at a low point, and by playing her, it put me into a place of appreciating life.”

Nicole Kidman led a life surrounded by an incredible level of fame while married to Cruise. After her divorce and during her marriage to Keith Urban, 46, things are starkly different.

For one, the couple moved to Nashville with their two daughters and the Australian actress says she does not miss living in Hollywood.

“The whole business side of it — it’s too present. It doesn’t suit me,” she explained to Vanity Fair about life in Hollywood. “There’s an enormous amount you have to give up if you want to have a family. You can have a certain career, but you can’t be living in Hollywood, [where] absolutely everything, everything revolves around it. That wasn’t my choice. I’d rather revolve around somebody else’s career and then still find my own.”

Nicole Kidman says she moved away from the kind of life as she didn’t find what she was looking for and that life was not for her.

“It was such a blessing that I found somebody who said, ‘Well, are you willing to move to Tennessee?’ And I was ‘Oh, am I willing to move!'”

In contrast to the “intoxicating” marriage she had with Cruise, Kidman calls her marriage to Urban “very peaceful.”

Nicole Kidman says her family is extremely close, but her and Urban are constantly challenged between the quiet family life and the expression of their artistic talents.

“My husband and I are in uncharted territory because we’re trying to find artistic expression but also we’re incredibly connected as a family — we’re very, very tight, very, very close, and I have a very, very primal protection of my family.”

Nicole Kidman is busy with at least six films which are completed, in pre-production or post-production lined up for 2014 and 2015.
