Marilyn Monroe’s photos history has a way of being a continuing inspiration for starlets to emulate. So let’s have a look at the legacy of Marilyn Monroe history, the who’s and why’s.
As previously reported by The Inquisitr, we saw Scarlett Johansson nude for her recent movie Under The Skin.
Interestingly enough, Scarlett Johansson has previously objected to comparisons to Marilyn Monroe:
“I love Marilyn. I think she was incredibly beautiful and a very underrated actress. I am a curvy woman who is blonde, and perhaps we are both comfortable in our femininity, but I think that is as far as the comparison goes.”
But in 2009, Scarlett Johansson posed for Dolce & Gabbana looking like Marilyn Monroe all the way. (If she’s not channeling Marilyn Monroe in that picture, I don’t know what is…)
This one is, of course, obvious and any Marilyn Monroe photos history wouldn’t be complete without mentioning this one. With Lindsay Lohan doing a recreation of Marilyn Monroe’s last photo shoot and buying an apartment where Marilyn Monroe once lived, it’s safe to say Lindsay Lohan has Marilyn-fever.
Lindsay Lohan doesn’t even defend her Marilyn Monroe obsession, saying, “If you saw my house … I have a lot of Marilyn stuff.” This collection includes a huge painting of Marilyn Monroe.
In Gossip Girls’ 100th episode, Blake Lively transformed into Marilyn Monroe, and like Marilyn, she has also been called a “blonde bombshell”. She confessed she often pretends to be Marilyn Monroe saying:
“I have insecurities like any girl. I used to be really shy and unconfident. I hated being tall. Walking the red carpet is so scary, so I pretend to be Marilyn Monroe – someone who owned their sexuality and projected this incredible aura of self-confidence.”
While Paris Hilton’s Marilyn Monroe girl-crush borders more on the megalomaniacal, she probably is the single most Marilyn-channeling starlet around. Though she can’t act, and really doesn’t have much of a career, she does look and sound alot like her.
Paris Hilton says comparisons to Marilyn Monroe just fit:
“There’s nobody in the world like me, I think every decade has an iconic blonde – like Marilyn Monroe or Princess Diana – and right now, I’m that icon.”
Well, at least she’s not known for her modesty.
Madonna is a repeat offender in the Marilyn channeling game. Her Material Girl video was an obvious recreation of Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend, and the singer often dresses and attempts to look like Marilyn Monroe. Madonna has even upset quite a few people though with her repeated Marilyn-copying, as seen in this website. Madonna is not really worried about that though, saying:
“I’d love to be a memorable figure in the history of entertainment in some sexual, comic, tragic way. I’d like to leave the impression that Marilyn Monroe did, to be able to arouse so many different feelings in people.”
It seems like Megan Fox can’t decide if she hearts Marilyn Monroe or not, but she did get the ink. But then she announced her plans to get the tattoo removed and started making some comparisons of her own:
“I started reading about her and realized that her life was incredibly difficult. It’s like when you visualize something for your future. I didn’t want to visualize something so negative. She wasn’t powerful at the time. She was sort of like Lindsay (Lohan). She was an actress who wasn’t reliable, who almost wasn’t insurable…She had all the potential in the world, and it was squandered. I’m not interested in following those footsteps.”
Why she didn’t research Marilyn Monroe just a little prior to getting a tattoo of her face is anyone’s guess.
Michelle Williams actually played Marilyn Monroe in My Week With Marilyn and studied the actress in some depth. Michelle came to her own conclusions about Marilyn Monroe:
“She carefully crafted her own image, to a genius degree. Marilyn was no dumb blonde, she was shrewd, with a delicious sense of humor.”
Here’s another obvious one. Gwen Stefani is often seen channeling ‘Old Hollywood” and none so much as Marilyn Monroe. Gwen admits she’s been obsessed with Marilyn and sometimes compares herself, in a WWMD (What Would Marilyn Do?) manner.
Yes, even Gwen Setfani stars get starstruck:
“Growing up in LA, I was fascinated with starlets. My room was covered with Marilyn Monroe posters and I loved early Hollywood. It’s such a glamorous era.”
Considering this Marilyn Monroe photos history, which starlet is her the most in today’s celeb world?
