Pinterest Wedding: Man Plans Secret Dream Wedding Using Girlfriend’s Pinterest Page

A man’s surprise Pinterest wedding for his girlfriend has turned into a 30-minute documentary and now a viral sensation.

The idea came from Ryan Leak, a Texas man who went off to college at North Central University in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

While he was writing papers and taking finals, Leak came up with an idea to propose to his girlfriend, Amanda Roman.

Leak was armed with hundred of ideas for Amanda’s dream wedding thanks to her Pinterest page, so he took her more than 200 pins and started planning a surprise event with all of her family and friends in attendance.

There was a lot of leg work to do. Leak worked with a couple of friends to put the wedding together and even called on one of them to officiate. Leak kept them all in the loop with regular emails in the months leading up to the Pinterest wedding.

“He made every guy look bad in the history of the world,” said friend Nate Ruch.

Amanda had just about every detail of her dream wedding on the Pinterest page, from the shade of lipsitck she wanted to her ideal engagement ring and even the retro style of thank you notes she planned for after the big day. The couple wasn’t even engaged yet, but Ryan started taking careful notes of what he saw pop up on the page so he cold make the wedding perfect.

He quizzed Amanda for the rest of the details.

“She already knew that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her and that we wanted to get married someday,” Leak told TODAY.com about the wedding, which he says took him roughly a year and a half to plan. “I asked her to write down everything she wanted on a sheet of paper: What are we wearing? Who is invited? Who is officiating? She wrote it all out for me a year before I even started thinking about planning.”

On the fifth anniversary of the day Leak asked Roman on their first date, he took her to Miami for what he said was a romantic getaway. But instead he proposed, and then unveiled his even bigger surprise.

With a videographer recording the event, Leak led his girlfriend to a hotel ballroom filled with guests. The two had their Pinterest wedding that night, Amanda’s dream wedding down to the last detail.

A documentary of the wedding on YouTube has become a viral hit, with close to 150,000 views.

After the wedding, Leak said that some people have accused him of taking away Roman’s experience of planning a wedding, but he said she actually planned every detail of the Pinterest wedding —- she just didn’t realize it.
