Four Bodies Pulled Out Of Santa Monica Crash Wreckage

Four bodies have been pulled out of the wreckage left when a plane in Santa Monica crashed after landing.

Authorities called the accident “unsurvivable” on Monday due to the extent of the damage the small twin-engine Cessna sustained.

The bodies were recovered on Tuesday morning from under the collapsed hanger into which the plane crashed and exploded into a ball of fire, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s office.

National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) officials, who are conducting the investigation say there was no indication of a distress call placed by the pilot and found a voice recorder in the cockpit.

Authorities cannot confirm there was a problem with one of the tires during landing.

A crane had to be used to raise the roof of the collapsed hangar into which the plane crashed on Monday, giving Federal investigators access to the Cessna. The probe into the accident will continue on Tuesday.

The four bodies pulled out of the wreckage have not been identified by the coroner’s office, but two of the victims are reportedly Mark Benjamin, the CEO of a Southern California construction company by the name of Morely Builders and his son Luke, a senior project engineer.

The statement from the company, based in Santa Monica, did not indicate whether there were other passengers on board that were employed by the firm. Reports indicated that four bodies were recovered.

It is unclear if the remaining passengers on board the ill-fated flight are family members of the two victims or business associates.

Some have taken to social media to remember the father and son.

The four bodies recovered from the Santa Monica crash scene are in the process of being identified so next of kin can be notified.
