A record number of viewers tuned in to watch the series finale. As Walter White lay dying on the meth lab floor, the song played in the background:

“Guess I got what I deserve… Kept you waiting there, too long… All the days became so long… Guess that’s all I have to say… Just one thing, before I go… Take good care, baby let me know, let it show.”

The lyrics are fitting, as many fans thought Walt finally got what he deserved. It was obvious by the end of the show that Walt agreed with their assessment.

Although many fans were satisfied with the ending, it was bittersweet. Most of the loose ends were tied up; Walt got his revenge, Jesse got away, and Walt’s family will get his money.

However, the finale was the end of a brilliant show. Fans looked forward to watching Walt try to weasel his way out of numerous bad decisions. They sympathized with his fight against cancer, and his quest to provide for his family.

However, he eventually displayed another side. By the end of the series, it was clear that everything Walt did was for Walt.

Breaking Bad’s final season was simply heart wrenching. Badfinger’s song “Baby Blue” was immortalized among a multitude of incredibly strong emotions. For many fans, the song will always be Walter White’s final goodbye.

As reported by Rolling Stone, the song was released in 1972 on the album titled Straight Up. The song reached number 14 on Billboard’s pop singles chart.

“Baby Blue” was the band’s final Top 20 song. Although it was featured in the 2006 film The Departed, the song was largely forgotten.

Nearly 41 years later, Badfinger has gained the attention of an entirely new generation.
