Daniel Day-Lewis Should Play James Bond, Says Author William Boyd

Daniel Day-Lewis is the next logical choice to play James Bond, says author William Boyd.

Since Daniel Craig can’t play the international spy forever, the folks at MGM and Sony Pictures are presently searching for someone to fill the actor’s shoes once he vacates the role. Although Tom Hardy is reportedly in the running for the part, Boyd has other ideas in mind.

According to Worst Previews, Chaplin scribe William Boyd was tapped by Ian Fleming’s estate to pen the next novel in the James Bond series. Solo, the spy’s next literary adventure, should arrive on shelves in North America on October 8.

While promoting the book, Boyd dished on who he thought should tackle the role next. In his humble opinion, award-winning actor Daniel Day-Lewis is the right guy to play Bond in future installments of the long-running franchise.

Boyd recently told The Independent:

“If there was to be an actor to play my James Bond, I’d choose another actor who has also been in a film of mine and who I also know and who is also called Daniel — Daniel Day-Lewis — because I think Daniel Day-Lewis actually resembles the Bond that [Ian] Fleming describes.”

The Inquisitr previously reported that Tom Hardy could land the role in future entries of the series. According to an industry insider, the Dark Knight Rises star is presently at the top of the producers’ wish list.

“He’s been approached to gauge his interest and he’s keen. He’s a respected actor with a great back catalog of films but most importantly he’s the type of guy that all men want to be like and all women want to be with. He’s perfect Bond material,” a source told the Daily Star.
