Battlefield 4 Open Beta Coming October 1, Next Gen Releases Dated

The Battlefield 4 open beta is headed to a console near you the first day of October. EA announced the news on Friday, confirming that PC, Xbox 360, and Playstation 3 users will all have a chance to check out the upcoming military shooter with friends online soon.

When the Battlefield 4 open beta begins, gamers will have a chance to check out the classic Conquest mode on the Siege of Shanghai map, Videogamer reports. The map is expected to feature many of the standards of the Battlefield franchise, including huge maps with dozens of players fighting on foot or in vehicles for control points.

At this point it is important to note that it has not been confirmed whether or not the open beta will be available to all gamers on October 1. VG 24/7 points out that an announcement was made in August that those who pre-ordered Battlefield 4 would have open beta access three days before everyone else. EA had a similar program for early pre-orders of Battlefield 3 in 2011, granting those players two days of beta play before the rest of the public.

Other news on the Battlefield 4 front include confirmed release dates for the next generation console versions of EA’s military shooter. North Americans can expect to see the Playstation 4 version in stores on November 12, while Europeans will have to wait until November 29. For those who will be getting an Xbox One, it will be out November 19 in North America and November 21 in Europe.

The game is still slated for an October 29 release on PC, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360.

Keep an eye out for updates in coming weeks to find out whether or not you’ll be joining in on the Battlefield 4 open beta October 1. Who else is excited to try out the next chapter in the Battlefield franchise?
