Sylvester Stallone’s ‘Grudge Match’ Gets An Official Trailer [Video]

The official trailer for Sylvester Stallone and Robert De Niro’s Grudge Match has found its way online.

Although a leaked trailer bubbled to the surface last month, the folks Warner Bros. recently dropped the first official look at their upcoming box comedy. The movie is scheduled for release on December 25.

Directed by Peter Segal (Get Smart, 50 First Dates), the film tells the story of two former heavyweight brawlers who decide to squash their macho feud decades after hanging up their gloves. Alan Arkin, Kevin Hart, and Kim Basinger are also slated to star in the flick.

Here’s how Warner Bros. is describing Grudge Match:

The story revolves around retired boxers Billy “The Kid” McGuigan (De Niro) and Henry “Razor” Sharp (Stallone), lifelong bitter rivals who are coaxed out of retirement and into the ring for one final grudge match — 50 years after their last title fight.

Sylvester Stallone is definitely no stranger to playing a boxer on the big screen. The Expendables alum has portrayed iconic fighter Rocky Balboa in a number of Rocky movies over the past few decades.

Robert De Niro also has a little cinematic experience in the ring. The acclaimed actor famously played Jake La Motta in director Martin Scorsese’s 1980 drama Raging Bull. The movie was based on La Motta’s book.

Grudge Match isn’t the only major motion picture Sylvester Stallone will appear in later this year. The action hero will star with Arnold Schwarzenegger in the prison thriller Escape Plan. Jim Caviezel, 50 Cent, Vincent D’Onofrio, and Sam Neill co-star.

Robert De Niro, meanwhile, stars alongside Michelle Pfeiffer and Tommy Lee Jones in Luc Besson’s action-comedy The Family. The film opened in theaters across the US on Friday (September 13).
