‘Fast And Furious 7’ Puts Djimon Hounsou Behind The Wheel


Djimon Hounsou is the latest addition to the Fast and Furious 7 cast.

Production is reportedly underway on the next installment of Universal’s box office cash cow. To make sure the film has as much talent in front of the camera as it can possible contain, producers have tapped the Blood Diamond star for a role in the picture.

Since the plot is being kept under wraps for the time being, it’s unclear who Djimon Hounsou will play in Fast and Furious 7. Regardless, his involvement with the flick is definitely a plus for those of us who enjoy the guy’s work in Constantine and Elephant White.

Although plot details might be few and far between for the time being, it’s no secret that the upcoming sequel sports an insanely impressive cast. In addition to Hounsou, the follow-up will add Jason Statham, Kurt Russell, and MMA fighter Ronda Rousey to the mix.

Of course, several series regulars are returning for Fast and Furious 7 as well. Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, and Tyrese Gibson are all back behind the wheel once again. The Conjuring director James Wan has been tasked with bringing the flick to life.

It’s not surprising that the folks at Universal are trying to get the next installment in theaters as soon as humanly possible. Moviegoers turned out in record numbers to catch Fast and Furious 6 on the big screen earlier this year.

According to the numbers posted at Box Office Mojo, the sequel managed to generate a healthy $787 million from around the world during its theatrical run. The studio stands to make even more money from the flick when it hits Blu-ray and DVD later this year.
