‘N Sync Reunion Was A Little Short, Draws Dramatically Mixed Reactions

The ‘N Sync reunion during last night’s MTV Video Music Awards was painfully short, badly mixed, and really little more than Justin Timberlake calling up his old bandmates to be his back-up dancers for 30 seconds of a marathon 15-minute medley performance.

But that’s all it took to prove that the prototype boy band are still master pantydroppers.

The reunion was rumored for weeks, and completely dominated Twitter last night with hundreds of tweets, retweets and favorites going out every second. But was it worth it? Was 60 seconds of “Bye, Bye, Bye” really the decade-awaited reunion fans had in mind?

It depends who you ask.

The ‘N Sync reunion prompted comparisons to another recent and slightly-lackluster reunion (Destiny’s Child / Super Bowl). “Just come wiggle for 60 seconds with the one we’re celebrating, okay?'” wrote Twitter user @fuggirls. Logo’s Louis Virtel added, “The rest of *NSYNC just fell into a dungeon where Kelly Rowland is the doorman.”

But for celebs like Snooki and JWoww, 60 seconds was more than enough to satisfy the 11-year ‘N Sync itch.

“I literally just died seeing Nsync…. I’m so happy im in tears,” JWoww wrote. “OMG DYING!! Now THAT’S A BOY BAND BITCHES!!! NSYNC???? #VMAS” wrote a slightly more excitable Snooki.
