‘N Sync Signs Up For Twitter, Confirms VMA Performance

When the VMAs come around every year, there’s always a performance that has everyone talking. This year it’s a safe bet to say that everyone will be talking about the impending ‘N Sync performance.

Although it seemed like the performance definitely wasn’t happening after Joey Fatone and Lance Bass sort of denied it, ‘N Sync’s next move spoke louder than any statement could have.

Yesterday ‘N Sync signed up for Twitter as a verified account, and made their first tweet.

The first tweet from the 90s boy band stated: “Mic check, mic check one.. two… is this thing on?!”

It was reported earlier in the week that a reunion may or may not happen for the boys at the VMAs, and the Internet broke out in a frenzy. From fans to famous faces, the reaction of a possible ‘N Sync reunion at the VMAs has been filled with excitement.

After ‘N Sync signed up for a Twitter account, their fan base was felt in numbers, as they gained 103,623 in 20 hours of joining. Band member Chris Kirkpatrick, who founded the group broke his silence in a tweet:

Up until then all had been quiet on the Twitter front from Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone, and Chris Kirkpatrick. The only exception being a photo that Lance Bass posted on his Instagram of himself, Fatone and Kirkpatrick hanging out at a bar. When the photo was posted, it sure did give those reunion rumors fuel.

That said, when the rumors first started circulating, members Lance Bass and Joey Fatone denied a performance was happening, sort of. Fatone was caught leaving a New York airport by TMZ. When asked if he was arriving in New York to join the boys on stage, Fatone said:

“Why the hell would I attend? I mean, for Justin obviously, he’s getting the Vanguard Award, which is cool. We heard about that, and that’s when the rumors started flying about doing all this stuff.”

Bass was coy on his radio show, telling listeners:

“Justin Timberlake is getting the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award this Sunday at the awards, so of course people are automatically going to think we’re going to be there performing, but this is exactly how it happened and I knew these rumors were going to fly.”

A few days later and those denials were put to shame, as Joey Fatone’s father broke the news, that a performance from ‘N Sync would be happening. Fatone Sr. told RadarOnline:

“They’re doing a performance. I think it’s exciting. I couldn’t even say why he’s doing it. Why, at this point in his life. Now he’s his own man.”

It is believed that ‘N Sync are getting back together because its lead member Justin Timberlake, will be receiving the Video Vanguard Award at the event. It’s said that MTV wanted to acknowledge Timberlake’s origins, and the best way to do that was to get the guys back together for a performance. Also, it doesn’t hurt ratings either.

‘N Sync is rumored to recreate a few of their hits in a medley. It is not yet known whether or not they will bring back their dance moves too.
