DMX Arrested In South Carolina

Greer, SC — DMX was arrested in South Carolina for a third time Tuesday night.

Police said the rapper was a passenger in a truck that was stopped for an illegal U-turn. Officers said they found weed in the car and arrested the 42-year-old. They also noticed that he had a warrant out for his arrest from a previous driving without a license case and told him he needed to go to jail, according to TMZ.

The rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons, started shouting, “This ain’t no normal traffic stop. Eighteen cops, five cars, get the f*** outta here, man.” A female friend recorded the incident, and DMX can be heard saying that the U-turn was legal, and that he is “sweating like a motherf***er, yo.”

DMX suffered a slight asthma attack during the arrest, and paramedics responded to the scene. He was taken to a Greer County jail, but was released Wednesday morning. He has been placed under house arrest, but it’s unclear for how long.

According to the police report, DMX smelled like he had been drinking and had marijuana in his possession at the time of the arrest. Officers said they found three more bags under the driver’s floor board, and cited the driver for possession of marijuana. DMX said he had no idea there was weed in the car.

DMX was arrested in Greenville County, South Carolina last month, supposedly for DUI and driving without a license. However, he was able to avoid charges after passing a Breathalyzer test. DMX was also arrested in Spartanburg for driving without a license in February.

Last month, the New York native filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in Manhattan bankruptcy court. The petition lists $1 million to $10 million in debt and less than $50,000 in assets. DMX also owes $1.24 million in child support and $21,000 on a car lease.
