Maci Bookout Battling Mysterious Illness That Causes Terrible Pain


Maci Bookout of Teen Mom fame is facing a mysterious ailment that she said is leaving her in excruciating pain.

Bookout took to Twitter this week to give followers an update on her health, saying she has been seeing doctors to deal with what she termed a mystery ailment. One day the announcement Maci gave a further update, saying she was going through a lot of pain.

“i really need to not be sick anymore… back to the doctor tomorrow! i should be on #mysterydiagnosis” Maci tweeted.

Though Maci Bookout didn’t divulge the nature of her disease, she did make reference to some kind of painful treatment she has already endured. She added that over the past three days she was only able to eat two cups of soup and some ice cream.

She then added, “this illness im dealing with is probably the most painful experience ive ever had physically and now my ass hurts from the shot too.”

Maci was one of the original cast members on MTV’s reality show about pregnant teens. She appeared on the docu-drama 16 And Pregnant, which then spun off into the reality show Teen Mom.

This week Maci Bookout got her own MTV show, Being Maci — A Teen Mom Special.

Maci has said the shows are more than just typical television drama.

“Since the inception of ’16 & Pregnant’ and ‘Teen Mom’, the teen pregnancy rate in the U.S. has dropped significantly and Maci feels this is no coincidence, but that the stories and struggles of four normal teenage mothers being shared with the world has had a direct impact on those numbers,” Maci said on her official website.

“In addition to appearing on ’16 & Pregnant’ and ‘Teen Mom’, Maci works to educate young people on teen pregnancy prevention through public speaking engagements and personal appearances.”

Maci Bookout has branched out into other charity endeavors. On her site she is raising money for the Kidney Foundation, having collected more than $3,000 so far.
