Meryl Streep And Robert De Niro To Reunite In ‘The Good House’

Meryl Streep and Robert De Niro will be teaming up again for the new movie The Good House.

The movie, which is based on the best selling novel by Ann Leary, will see Streep and De Niro share the screen for the fourth time. The two legendary actors have also appeared together in The Deer Hunter, Falling In Love, and Marvin’s Room.

The Huffington Post notes that this will also mark a reunion for Streep and author Michael Cunningham. The Pulitzer Prize winning author will be adapting Leary’s novel into a screenplay. Cunningham was also responsible for providing the story for The Hours and 2007’s Evening.

Karen Lunder, executive vice president of production at FilmNation, said that the combination of Michael Cunningham, Ann Leary, Meryl Streep, and Robert De Niro will create a compelling movie.

Lunder said: “We knew right away with Michael’s demonstrated talent and Ann’s bestseller that we have the opportunity to create something truly entertaining… It is undeniable the authenticity and chemistry Meryl and Bob will offer us as they bring these characters to life.”

Streep will play a recovering alcoholic named Hildy in the new movie and Robert De Niro will play her old love interest.

Jane Rosenthal of Tribeca Productions writes: “Ann Leary has an intoxicating voice and created a truly original character in Hildy Good. When I read the book, I was only sorry it ended – but so thrilled that we’ll be able to bring it to the screen with Meryl Streep as the irresistible Hildy. It’s the perfect project to work on with Michael Cunningham and we are excited to be doing this in partnership with FilmNation, as they were equally passionate about Ann’s characters.”
