Rand Paul head stomper wants apology from victim

In the ever widening gulf of politically charged nonsense to come out of the upcoming midterm election related press, one of the more polarizing stories involves a young female protestor (affiliated with MoveOn.org) who is said to have suffered a concussion after a male Tea Party supporter stepped on her head at a rally.

23-year-old Lauren Valle says the attack by former Rand Paul campaign coordinator Tim Profitt was “premeditated,” and that she overheard him planning the head-stomping with companions. Profitt, for his part, completely admits to deliberately stepping on the young woman’s head- but he thinks Valle should be apologizing for her role in the assault:

“I don’t think it’s that big of a deal,” Profitt said of the incident in an interview with CBS affiliate WKYT. “I would like for her to apologize to me to be honest with you…”

“…she’s a professional at what she does,” Profitt said. “I think when all the facts come out, I think people will see that she was the one that initiated the whole thing.”

How Valle may have orchestrated her own cranial stompage remains to be explained by Profitt. However, he says an ongoing back injury helped spark the incident.

Profitt also said that chronic back pain contributed to his actions: “I put my foot on her, and I did push her down at the very end, and I told her to stay down. I actually put my foot on her to — I couldn’t bend over because I have issues with my back,” Profitt said.

The Paul campaign has since cut ties with Profitt.
