‘Robocop’ Remake Viral Website Updated Ahead Of Comic-Con Panel [Video]

A new viral clip from the upcoming Robocop remake has started making the rounds online.

The long-delayed update of director Paul Verhoeven’s classic sci-fi flick is slated to arrive in theaters next year. In order to help spread the good word about the project, some of the cast and crew from the flick will be present at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con.

Several new images and a brand new viral video have been released ahead of the Robocop remake’s appearance at the annual convention. You can see an assortment of goodies related to the forthcoming movie over at OmniCorp.com.

According to Screen Crush, the viral site for the reboot has been strangely quiet for quite some time now. Since the movie’s release date is right around the corner, the studio is slowly getting the promotional machine up and running. You can find the latest Robocop clip embedded below.

Included in the recent batch of images are shots of Robocop’s iconic handgun, a sleek aircraft manufactured by OmniCorp, and a look at what appears to be a prototype of Robocop’s exoskeleton.

The Killing star Joel Kinnaman recently sat down for a chat with the folks at Metro. The actor portrays slain cop Alex Murphy, the man who eventually becomes the future of law enforcement. He believes that fans will very pleased with new version of the 80s classic.

“It was a great experience. Half of my scenes were with Gary Oldman, which was a dream come true. The director didn’t want to make a superhero movie — we made an action tragedy. It’s going to be a sad and exciting story with quite a bit of drama,” Kinnaman explained.

MGM was all set to release director Jose Padilha’s remake into theaters this year. However, many believe that fan backlash prompted the studio to push the release date to February 7, 2014. As any movie nerd will tell you, studios tend to dump problematic movie into the early part of the year.
