Pedro Pascal Joins ‘Game Of Thrones’ Cast For Season 4

Pedro Pascal is somewhat of an unknown actor, but his rise to stardom could come after he joins the Game of Thrones cast for season 4. The Chilean actor has recently been seen on USA Network’s Graceland series, but he’s now set to become Prince Oberyn Martell on the popular HBO show.

Creators David Benioff and Dan Weiss made it known that casting this highly anticipated role was very difficult. Pascal’s character is also nicknamed “The Red Viper,” and Benioff and Weiss told EW.com that it’s a very diverse role.

“The Red Viper is sexy and charming, yet believably dangerous; intensely likable, yet driven by hate,” they said. “The boys love him, the girls love him, and he loves them all back. Unless your last name is Lannister.”

The subtle hint towards the character’s personality in the show has already proven that Pascal is in for a wild ride. With the spotlight on the way, Pedro Pascal will have his hands full once he takes to the Game of Thrones set.

“We found a fellow who can handle the job description and make it seem effortless,” the creators said about casting Pascal. “He wasn’t easy to find and he won’t be easy to stop.”

The decision was “a tough one” for Benioff and Weiss but they believe they’ve found the right guy. Pascal will still have to prove himself to the overwhelming amount of fans, but being an unknown can only be an advantage.

His body of work is particularly in Broadway, but he’s also worked on the CBS drama, The Good Wife, outside of getting a chance in the new Graceland series.

There’s no telling how successful he will be in his first major role, on HBO nonetheless. Fans have already begun to contemplate the decision on Twitter and all over the web.

Do you think Pedro Pascal was the right choice to play Prince Oberyn Martell in the upcoming season of Game of Thrones?
