[Video] Dr. Laura has been apologizing continuously since she used ‘n-word’

Dr. Laura Schlessinger, the controversial talk show host who dispenses questionable advice in a Los Angeles based radio program, has spent the past day or so continuously apologizing for a rant directed at a black caller who complained of her husband’s friends’ racist remarks.

Schlessinger launched into a tirade at the caller, using the “n-word” several times, although she did not direct the epithet at the caller herself. When the unidentified woman on the phone expressed shock and dismay at Dr. Laura’s casual use of the word, Schlessinger became belligerent and dismissive before ultimately hanging up on the woman in disgust. Schelessinger says she immediately felt remorseful, but finished out her hour because she did not want “dead air.”

In a blog post two days later, Dr. Laura said she’s sorry and that she didn’t mean to hurt people by saying the n-word about fifty times in rapid succession:

“I didn’t intend to hurt people, but I did. And that makes it the wrong thing to have done. I was attempting to make a philosophical point, and I articulated the “n” word all the way out – more than one time. And that was wrong. I’ll say it again- that was wrong. I ended up, I’m sure, with many of you losing the point I was trying to make, because you were shocked by the fact that I said the word.”
