Sony Slashes Reader Prices Amid Toughening Market Conditions

Sony took a step from the Barnes & Noble and Amazon playbooks today and cut their e-book reader pricing. The company started with the Reader Daily Edition dropping the units pricing from $350 to $300, while the Pocket Edition drops to $150, previously from $170. Finally the Touch Edition falls from $200 to a decent $170.

The Daily Edition was the most expensive conventional 3G capable reader on the market before the price drop and it is now placed in a better competitive position versus the Apple iPad, Amazon Kindle DX and the Barnes & Noble Nook.

What do you think? Are you more likely to pick up a Sony reader with the new pricing options?
