The iPad arcade cabinet: from April Fools’ to reality

We already ran a story about the iCade, an iPad arcade cabinet that was, to the regret of many, an April Fools’ joke from ThinkGeek. The difference is this latest iPad arcade cabinet is real.

The picture above only shows a prototype model, but this iPad arcade cabinet from UK firm Freekade lets you do precisely what the iCade promised: slide in Apple’s slate, and play awesome old games with old school controls, including a pleasingly chunky joystick.

I’ve no idea when this will be going on sale, but it’s already looking pretty fun in this footage:
