“Ladies and gentlemen, now, for you who are not full Irish in this room, lubricating has a different meaning for us all.”

Prime Minister Enda Kenny said that Joe Biden “seems to have an inexhaustible supply of Irish sayings.”

Joe Biden making dirty jokes is apparently not an uncommon occurrence. Joe Biden recently met with Julia Louis-Dreyfuss, who plays the vice president on her HBO show Veep. During lunch, Joe Biden tried out this racy zinger, saying, “Hey, does your husband like to sleep with the Vice President, because I’m trying to convince Jill it’s a good idea!”

For her part, Julia Lous-Dreyfuss defended Joe Biden’s dirty joke, saying, “It’s racy but he didn’t mean it in a racy way. He was just being funny.”
