Tom Cruise Doesn’t Want To Push Suri Into Acting

Tom Cruise is one of the biggest movie stars in the world, but he’s not so sure he wants his kids to follow him into show business.

Speaking at the premiere of his new science fiction thriller Oblivion, Tom was asked if he would let Suri get into acting. After all, she’s got the pedigree with a mega star father and successful actress Katie Holmes for a mom.

Tom Cruise said any of his kids — including the two he adopted with then-wife Nicole Kidman — can get into acting if they want to. He’s just not going to push it on them.

“All my kids [can get into acting],” he said. “What I do is try to find out what they’re interested in and support them in that. There’s no pressure. I’m lucky. I love what I do. I think with them, it’s just find out what you want to do and support it.”

Actually, his 18-year-old son Connor has already given acting a shot, appearing in the 2008 flick Seven Pounds with Will Smith.

If anything, Suri Cruise may be following her mom into the fashion industry. Speaking to Elle magazine in 2011, Katie Holmes said Suri already has a great sense of style.

“She’ll really tell me [what she thinks]. Like today I’m wearing brown suede pants, and she said, ‘I don’t like your pants.’ But then she’ll say, ‘You’ve got to wear these shoes.’ Or, ‘That’s so pretty, Mom. Wear that.’ She’s got a great eye,” Holmes said.

Tom Cruise noted that the movie industry is hard work, and he’s kept a strict workout regimen even at age 50 to keep an edge in Hollywood. It’s paid off, as he’s looked cut in a shirtless scene in Oblivion.

“I’ve trained my whole life,” he told reporters. “I don’t sleep that much. Some of those days [on set] it was like an hour, two hours’ sleep. You just go hard.”

The remarks Tom Cruise made about Suri come just a day after some fabricated remarks about his divorce from Katie Holmes circulated. The report from a German tabloid alleged that Cruise said his divorce from Katie Holmes last year came as a complete shock.

A rep for Tom Cruise later confirmed that the quotes were all made up.
