Rachel Alexandra Named American Horse Of The Year

Preakness Stakes, Haskell Invitational and Woodward Stakes winner Rachel Alexandra has been named American Horse of the Year.

The filly beat Zenyatta for the award, obtaining 130 first-place votes to 99 for Zenyatta from a total of 232 votes.

Owner Jess Jackson told ESPN that “as long as Rachel is able to run and compete at the top level, we look forward to running at least another year,” and noted that her return to racing had only been delayed due to wet weather in New Orleans.
