Ben Affleck’s Debut Directorial Short ‘I Killed My Lesbian Wife…’ Pops Up Online

Ben Affleck first short, I killed my lesbian wife, now online

Long before Ben Affleck was directing Academy Award nominated movies, he directed a little seen short film called I Killed My Lesbian Wife, Hung Her On A Meathook And Now I Have A Three-Picture Deal With Disney.

Affleck directed the short film in 1993. He was still a relatively unknown at the time whose only major credit was Richard Linklater’s Dazed And Confused.

With Argo a frontrunner to win best picture twenty years after I Killed My Lesbian Wife, Hung Her On A Meathook And Now I Have A Three-Picture Deal With Disney was made, the short has found it’s way onto YouTube and into the public eye.

Luckily enough for Ben Affleck, he has a good sense of humor about himself. The Playlist reports that Affleck is still “haunted” by the film. He says:

“It’s horrible. It’s atrocious. I knew I wanted to be a director, and I did a couple of short films, and this is the only one that haunts me. I’m not proud of it. It looks like it was made by someone who has no prospects, no promise.”

Affleck has come a long way since I Killed My Lesbian Wife, Hung Her On A Meathook And Now I Have A Three-Picture Deal With Disney. After winning an Oscar for co-writing Good Will Hunting and taking over as Jack Ryan for Harrison Ford in The Sum Of All Fears, his career took a nosedive.

Gigli and Reindeer Games nearly destroyed Ben Affleck’s career. To save himself, Affleck turned back to directing. With a resume that includes Gone Baby, Gone, The Town, and Argo, Affleck’s directing resume speaks for itself.
