Celine Dion Cancels Las Vegas Shows

Celin Dion has been forced to cancel a handful of shows in Las Vegas.

AEG Live announced Monday that the singer will cancel some of her shows in Las Vegas due to an illness. The songstress is reportedly suffering from sinusitis. As a result, she will not be able to perform any tunes for her adoring fans.

According to Entertainmentwise, Dion has been instructed by her doctors to take a break in order to recuperate. The singer was reportedly recovering from the flu last week. Unfortunately for Celine, it would appear that illness has turned into a serious infection.

A statement on her website read:

“We regret to inform you that Celine performances Tuesday, February 19 through Friday, February 22 at The Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace have been cancelled. After recovering from the flu last week, Celine developed a secondary infection [sinusitis] which is being treated with antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medicine.

“Her doctor has instructed her to rest for a period of seven consecutive days in order for her to fully recover. Celine’s previously scheduled dates February 26 through March 16 will proceed as scheduled.”

Those who are currently holding tickets for the cancelled Las Vegas shows will be offered refunds. It’s currently unclear if Celine Dion intends to rescheduled these performances.

The Las Vegas Sun reports that the singer is coming up on the final year of her current contract with the folks at Caesar’s Palace. However, sources claim that Dion has enjoyed so much success during her residency that she intends to extend her stay for at least another two years. Depending on how well that deal works out, Celine could stay in Las Vegas for even longer.

The source explained:

“She’s definitely planning to go for years four and five. If all continues to go well, there will be years six and seven — and, who knows, maybe even beyond that. She’s very happy and feels right at home on The Strip.”
