The new trailer for The Numbers Stations finds John Cusack surrounded by bullets and explosions.

Directed by Kasper Barfoed and scripted by F. Scott Frazier, the upcoming thriller casts the High Fidelity star in the role of a CIA agent who is charged with protecting a code breaker. However, it doesn’t take very long for his latest operation to turn extremely sour.

Here’s what the film is about:

“After his latest mission goes wrong, veteran CIA black ops agent Emerson Kent is given one last chance to prove he still has what it takes to do his job. His new assignment: guarding Katherine, a code operator at a top-secret remote CIA “Numbers Station” where encrypted messages are sent and received. When an elite team of heavily armed assailants lays siege to the station, Emerson and Katherine suddenly find themselves in a life-or-death struggle against an unknown enemy.”

Danish director Kasper Barfoed will make his English-language debut with The Numbers Station. His previous cinematic efforts include the 2008 thriller The Candidate and the family adventure flick The Lost Treasure of the Knights Templar.

John Cusack’s schedule is pretty packed for 2013. Internet Movie Database lists the talented actor as being attached to a number of upcoming projects. Cusack is currently involved with director Jan de Bont’s crime thriller Five Minutes to Live and the adaptation of author Stephen King’s novel Cell.

Although it was originally scheduled to arrive in theaters last year, writer-director Scott Walker’s The Frozen Ground is now slated drop at some point during 2013. However, an exact date hasn’t been hammered out yet. In addition to John Cusack, the film also stars Nicolas Cage and Vanessa Hudgens.
