‘Rise Of The Triad’ Reboot Will Feature Hidden Rooms [Video]


The Rise of the Triad reboot that’s currently being pieced together by the folks at Interceptor Entertainment will feature old-school hidden rooms.

When the game is finally available for download, a number of elements that made the original title so memorable will be present and accounted for. According to the recent update from the developers, this includes the return of hidden areas that are revealed with the push of a button.

The talented individuals at Interceptor Entertainment are trying their best to inject the reboot with features that fans fondly remember from Apogee’s 1994 shareware classic. In addition to littering levels with destructible elements, gamers will be able to search these areas for secret rooms containing all sorts of action-packed goodies.

The third installment of the development team’s production diary explores the changes that are being made to the Rise of the Triad experience to bring it up-to-date with modern FPS shooters such as Call of Duty. For those who enjoy seeing the process in action, the video embedded below is extremely fascinating.

A lot of the buzz surrounding Rise of the Triad is being generated by those of us who grew up in the 90s. The title was originally released during the days of shareware, which is essentially a fancy of releasing a demo and getting gamers to pay for the final product.

The inclusion of springboards and hidden rooms is good news for fans of the original game. However, it’s unknown if the infamous “Dog Mode” will make a return as well.

Interceptor CEO Frederik Schreiber said of the reboot:

“Apogee has given us a great opportunity with Rise of the Triad. We are all about fast paced action and this was simply a perfect match for us as fans of old school shooters.”
