DC Sniper John Allen Muhammad was executed this evening in Virginia, seven years after bringing a reign of terror to the Washington area.
Muhammad was officially pronounced dead at 9:11pm EST. Virginia prison spokesman Larry Traylor told reporters that there were no complications in the lethal injection execution.
Muhammad spent his final hours with members of his family and was served a last meal of chicken with red sauce. He declined to make a last statement.
Muhammad and accomplice Lee Boyd Malvo killed 10 people in the Washington area in October 2002 rampage, and are believed to be behind several shootings in other states. Malvo, who was 17 at the time is serving multiple life sentences.
