‘House Of Cards’ Spinoff Focusing On Claire Underwood Possibly In The Works Following Kevin Spacey Drama

There is finally some good news following the recent cancellation of House of Cards. It has already been reported that the sixth season of the series is set to be its final one following the recent controversy involving Kevin Spacey. However, it looks like Netflix is already planning to make it up to fans with a spin-off show. Could the new drama possibly focus on Claire Underwood now that Frank is out of the picture?

People were certainly shocked when Anthony Rapp revealed that he was sexually assaulted by Kevin Spacey when Rapp was only 14 years old. In response, Spacey had apologized to the younger actor and somehow came out as a gay man. Nevertheless, the damage has been done as Netflix decided to pull the plug on House of Cards. Unfortunately, this would mean that Season 6 would be the show’s last. Luckily, the streaming giant is not quite ready to let go of Frank Underwood’s story just yet.

According to Variety, Netflix is currently working with Media Rights Capital for a House of Cards spin-off series. There are several ideas that are still being considered, but fans immediately started speculating on who will be the star of the new show. A popular theory suggests that Claire Underwood will finally rise to power and take over for her husband Frank.

There is little doubt that Claire Underwood is a fan favorite. After all, Robin Wright’s character has proven herself to be a truly strong woman who can stand on her own and be an ideal partner to Frank Underwood. However, Claire isn’t the only one who is being considered as the main focus on the House of Cards spin-off show.

There are speculations that Doug Stamper deserves to star in his own series. The chief of staff who made things possible for Frank Underwood certainly appears to be an ideal candidate for the House of Cards spin-off. However, plans for the new show are still in their early stages and may not get announced until late in 2018.

Netflix has yet to make an official announcement about the premise of the spin-off series. Likewise, House of Cards Season 6 is currently suspended and an air date has not yet been confirmed.
