‘Indiana Jones’ Receives Mysterious Package At University Of Chicago [Image]

The University of Chicago received a mysterious package that belongs in a museum.

A package sent to the admissions office at the University of Chicago was addressed to Henry Walton Jones, Jr., a.k.a. Harrison Ford’s pop culture icon Indiana Jones, reports E! Online. Fans of the popular film franchise know that Indiana held a day job as a mild-mannered archaeology professor at the university.

Details about the package were posted to the university’s Tumblr account. The mysterious package contained “an incredibly detailed replica” of Abner Ravenwood’s journal. Abner was Indiana’s mentor and father of his Raiders of the Lost Ark love interest, Marion Ravenwood.

The mysterious package also included “weathered inserts and many postcards/pictures of Marion Ravenwood (and some cool old replica money)” and “it’s clear that it is mostly, but not completely handmade, as although the included paper is weathered all of the ‘handwriting’ and calligraphy lacks the telltale pressure marks of actual handwriting.”

Curiously, the package was even wrapped to look period specific and included retro stamps that appear to have been photocopied. Because they’re not real stamps, the University of Chicago believe that the mysterious package may have been planted internally.

Though university officials don’t understand why they were targeted for such an elaborate hoax, they are mostly amused and working to find out who sent the package:

“Any hints, ideas, thoughts, or explanations are appreciated. We’ve been completely baffled as to why this was sent to us, in mostly a good way, but it’s clear this is a neat thing that either belongs somewhere else— or belongs in the halls of UChicago admissions history.

“Internet: help us out. If you’re on Reddit (we’re not) or any other nerdly social media sites where we might get information about this, feel free to post far and wide and e-mail any answers, clues, ideas, thoughts, or musings to indianajonesjournal@uchicago.edu (yes, we did set up an email account just to deal with this thing).”
