‘The Walking Dead’ Stuntman Falls 30 Feet, Sustains Serious Head Injury After Hitting Concrete Floor

The Walking Dead is currently filming Season 8. Along with the actors reciting their lines, there are professionals around to perform stunts. One of them was John Bernecker. Unfortunately, Deadline reported he was injured on set after falling 30 feet, hitting a concrete floor. He sustained a serious head injury, and things don’t look good for the young man.

The Hollywood Reporter shared the devastating news of John Bernecker‘s injury. It happened on Wednesday at one of TWD‘s Georgia filming sets. The cast and crew just completed filming Season 8, Episode 6, according to The Spoiling Dead Fans.

The stuntman was transported to Atlanta Medical Center and is in the intensive care unit. On Facebook, his girlfriend, Jennifer Cocker wrote that John deserves to be looked at by every doctor and neurosurgeon. She is hoping that someone will be able to help Bernecker. By the sound of her post, it sounds like he has not regained consciousness. AMC has halted production in light of the tragic accident, according to a spokesman.

“We are saddened to report that John Bernecker, a talented stuntman for The Walking Dead and numerous other television shows and films, suffered serious injuries from a tragic accident on set. He was immediately transported to an Atlanta hospital and we have temporarily shut down production. We are keeping John and his family in our thoughts and prayers.”

A spokesperson for SAG-AFTRA also issued a statement about the tragedy.

“We have been informed of a serious injury to a SAG-AFTRA member on the set of The Walking Dead and are investigating the situation. As always, the safety and security of our members and others on set is of crucial concern to us and we are focused on this in our investigation. Our thoughts and prayers are with the performer and his family.”

In addition to doing stunts on The Walking Dead, he also worked on Black Panther, Logan, 24: Legacy, Fantastic Four, Get Out, The Fate Of The Furious, and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2. His resume includes hundreds of other projects he has participated in and has dozens of specialties.

From New Orleans, he is believed to be in his early 30s, The Hollywood Reporter speculated.

After hearing the news, TWD fans are coming together to send prayers and positive thoughts to John and his loved ones. The Walking Dead has some of the most passionate fans in the world and consider the cast and crew to be like family. When tragedy strikes someone who works on the show, viewers take it to heart, and this accident is no exception.

Even though professional stuntmen and women are excellent at their jobs, accidents do happen. Carlos Lopez died after falling five stories. He worked on Hunger Games. James Bond stuntman Mark Sutton literally gave two thumbs up before falling to his death. An unidentified stuntman for Sylvester Stallone’s The Expendables 2 died on set in an explosion.

Hopefully, John Bernecker will recover from his injuries from the 30-foot fall while working on The Walking Dead Season 8.
