Teacher Rayna Culver Accused Of Sexually Abusing Student After Legally Adopting Him

Rayna Culver of Trenton, New Jersey, has been accused of legally adopting a 15-year-old student after he was kicked out of his home in order to pursue a sexual relationship with him.

The student, who was kicked out of his home in December of 2015, says that he and Culver were incredibly close during his time at Rivera Middle School, where she worked and he attended.

After being kicked out of his home, Rayna Culver took custody of the boy. In the alleged victim’s complaint, his lawyers state that she would often take off his clothes as he was about to fall asleep or touch him inappropriately. At one point, she performed oral sex on him before having penetrative sex.

The alleged victim says that he asked to stop the sexual relationship, but Rayna Culver refused.

“After that first incident, they would engage in sex often, and it was to the point where he felt that if he told her to stop she would get mad and kick him out of the house,” the complaint read.

Rayna Culver was arrested for her alleged crimes in May, and details about the case are now emerging. Currently, Culver is not in custody, as she was released under the condition that she have no contact with the alleged victim or anyone under the age of 18.

Culver’s lawyers maintain that the story is false and never occurred.

“The state’s theory of the case is a completely fabricated recitation made up by a troubled, young man,” they said in a statement.

According to statements made by the alleged victim, he called Rayna Culver “mom,” which is indicative of how close their relationship was no matter the actual nature of it.

After searching Rayna Culver’s home, they found two cell phones and “potential biological fluid,” which could possibly indicate that a sexual act had occurred between the pair.

The 43-year-old teacher is, by all accounts, a perfectly normal woman. She has been married for 14 years, loves to read, loves dogs, and is also the mother of a young child.

She was a climate and culture leader, and media outlets report that she earned $96,000 from teaching last year alone.

Rayna Culver has been working at Rivera Middle School since September of 2013.

It is unclear if Rayna Culver will lose her job, but it seems that she may not be able to return to teaching at the end of the summer if the condition of her bail is that he is no longer allowed to have contact with anyone under the age of 18.

Additionally, it is unknown if she has custody of her own child in the wake of the incident or and if she is possibly living away from her home due to the conditions of her release.
