The Chicago Area Supermarkets Are Where Hostess Twinkies Go To Die

As we all know, Hostess is rolling out with their last shipment of Twinkies. Good news for Chicago Twinkies lovers though — You may have one last opportunity to grab a box of those spongy, yellow snacks.

Hostess spokesman Thomas Becker toldTODAY that the last shipment of Twinkies from the bankrupt baker will be delivered to the Chicago area Jewel-Osco supermarkets Tuesday morning,

Over 20,000 boxes were contained in the shipment from the Twinkies plant in Columbus, Ga.

All 20,000 boxes of Twinkies will sell for regular retail face value ($3.59 for a box of 10) until supplies run out. However, there is no per customer limit, so feel free to splurge.

Jewel-Osco posted a delivery schedule on their Facebook page with the locations of all of the stores that will receive the final batch of the spongy, yellow, delicious goodies. The post also included their expected time of delivery.

After this last batch of Twinkies is gone, there will be no more Twinkies on store shelves. That is, unless the brand is bought and restarted.

Twinkies fans will have to buy their treats through secondary markets like eBay, Craigslist, or some guy peddling Twinkies out of his oversized trench coat.

Twinkies-maker Hostess declared bankruptcy and began liquidating the company when negotiations with its unions failed this winter.

Hostess has received hundreds of inquiries from interested buyers, so we might see Twinkies rise from the dead in the near future.

What do you think? Would you rather see Twinkies rise from the dead, or is it better to just let them rest in peace?
