Director Duncan Jones Weds Longtime Girlfriend After She Receives Cancer Diagnosis

Director Duncan Jones, famous for his films and for being the son of David Bowie, recently wed his longtime girlfriend, whow as diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer last month.

Shortly after receiving the diagnosis, Jones married 32-year-old photographer Rodene Ronquillo, saying that it was a way to handle the sad and “overwhelming” news. The two wed on November 7, just days after Ronquillo found a lump in her breast, reports NY Daily. Jones explained his decision to marry Ronquillo on Sunday in a series of tweets.

“I love my wife more than anyone. She’s young as can be,” he wrote. “On November 4th, my beautiful fiancé @rodeneronquillo I were, frisking about in bed, as you do. I am a boob man found… A lump.”

Jones posted an image showing both himself and Ronquillo with shaved heads.

“We were a little overwhelmed by the news: cancer Election Day, so decided to make it a set, ran down to the courthouse got married!,” he tweeted.

“So cancer, election, marriage. All on one day! Two days later, Ro was in surgery.”

Jones also said that her procedure went “really well,” and that Ronquillo is on the “fast track” for chemotherapy, which will begin Tuesday.

“Women are getting breast cancer younger younger,” he added. “Women? check yourselves! ..& men? Touch up your loved ones. You may save the life of the person you love.”

“Life is fragile, life is precious…you can never be too grateful. Xxoo Make it great,” Ronquillo tweeted in November.

Jones and Ronquillo live in Los Angeles. He is best known for directing the films Moon and Source Code.
