Scarlett Johansson Adamant That ‘Rough Night’ Is Not Just Another Chick Flick

Scarlett Johansson has had a Rough Night with four other ladies, and audiences are tuning in to see the sexy blonde in the raunchy film.

Despite many thinking Scarlett Johansson starring with four other women in lead roles automatically makes it a “chick flick,” the 32-year-old gorgeous blonde hit back at the “ladies movie” claims.

Speaking to E! News, Scarlett Johansson admitted that there have been quite a few people on her Rough Night press tour that referred to the film as a “chick flick.” But the actress has to say this: “Well, not necessarily.”

Saying that audiences have to “accept that women are funny,” Scarlett Johansson blamed the not so “inclusive environment” for thinking that Rough Night is a chick flick.

“It seems almost sort of passé that to say that is a ‘ladies movie.'”

Rough Night may be a little too raunchy and R-rated (as in: “swimming in d*ck” raunchy and killing a male stripper R-rated, as seen from the trailer), but Scarlett Johansson thinks it’s just “a little salty.”

Although moviegoers are not really used to seeing Scarlett Johansson in wild comedies, this is one of the rare cases when they’ll have to laugh seeing the actress partying hard, drinking heavily, and snorting drugs.

Scarlett Johansson reveals that the Rough Night script was so funny that it “made me laugh out loud.” In fact, so loud that she doesn’t even “think that’s ever really happened to me before.”

Rough Night centers on five mature women who get a little too crazy as they come together 10 years after graduating from college. But no bachelorette weekend ever goes without renting a beach house and injuring someone during the raunchy party.

But things got a little messier than expected for Scarlett Johansson and her four friends, as they ended up killing a male stripper in that beach house in Miami.

Their Rough Night only begins there, as the five women have to make tough decisions to get rid of the body, even if it means snorting drugs in the process.

Besides Scarlett Johansson, Rough Night also stars Saturday Night Live‘s Kate McKinnon, Workaholics star Jillian Bell, Broad City actress Ilana Glazer, and Big Little Lies starr Zoë Kravitz.

McKinnon also stopped by E! News during Rough Night premiere on Monday night, and the SNL star just couldn’t stop gushing about her co-star Scarlett Johansson.

Saying that Rough Night felt like “a fourth-grade sleepover” for her, McKinnon praised Johansson for her comedic chops on the set of the film.

“She’s hilarious. She was just instantly so funny and was so great at improvising and it was just really exciting to watch her do comedy, as well as be so grounded.”

McKinnon also added that Scarlett Johansson is “a master class.” Johansson had a pretty busy week, as in addition to attending Rough Night’s premiere, the actress also stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Tuesday to promote the new film out this Friday, according to Just Jared.

The late night talk show will broadcast Scarlett Johansson’s pre-taped interview with Colbert this coming Friday, the same day Rough Night opens in theaters.

Rough Night is not the first time Scarlett Johansson has put her comedic chops to test, as the usually dramatic actress hilariously hosted Saturday Night Live this past March.

Scarlett Johansson even starred in SNL‘s Complicit fragrance spoof ad, where she reintroduced her U.S. First Daughter Ivanka Trump impersonation. Johannsson has had plenty of experience doing impressions of the U.S. President Donald Trump’s daughter, as the actress first showed off her Ivanka imitation in 2007.
