‘Claws’ Series Premiere — Watch Florida Based Dramedy Live Online, On Twitter, And Tweet With Cast [Video]

If you’re not watching the Tony Awards tonight and are up for a comedy, you might want to check out the series premiere of TNT’s Claws. Based in Central Florida’s Manatee County, Claws tells the story of Nail Artisan salon owner Desna and her four employees and how she gets caught up in a money-laundering scheme. The series premiere is getting a lot of online buzz, and TNT is going to air the pilot at 9 p.m. ET. At 10 p.m., TNT will air the full pilot episode on Twitter. This marks the first time TNT played a basic cable program on the social media platform. Here is the description of Claws as explained by TNT. “Claws is a midnight-dark, wickedly funny meditation on female badness set in a South Florida nail salon. It follows the rise of five diverse and treacherous manicurists working at the Nail Artisan of Manatee County salon, where there is a lot more going on than silk wraps and pedicures. Claws is about good women caught in bad places with worse men. It’s the story of hardworking women trying to get by in this economy, set against the surreal, bright, gritty landscape of Florida and the luscious, absurd, extreme excesses of the crime world.”

Rashida Jones and writing partner Will McCormack co-produce Claws via their company Le Train Train. The team has a slew of writing and producing credits between them including the upcoming Toy Story 4, Celeste and Jesse Forever and A to Z. Additionally, Claws features an all-star cast that is a good indicator this show is going to be humorous and a hit.

The cast of Claws includes the following.

  • Jason Antoon as Dr. Ken Brickman (No Ordinary Family, Electric City, Famous in Love)
  • Jack Kesy as Roller (The Strain)
  • Jenn Lyon as Jennifer/Jenn (Saint George, Justified)
  • Carrie Preston as Polly (True Blood, The Good Wife, That’s What She Said)
  • Judy Reyes as Quiet Ann (Jane the Virgin, Devious Maids, Scrubs, Little Girl Lost: The Delimar Vera Story)
  • Karrueche Tran as Virginia (The Bay, Vanity)
  • Dean Norris as Uncle Daddy (Under the Dome, Breaking Bad)

The female lead promises to deliver an entertaining look at women in the workplace, but we expect to see plenty of messages about female power in the show. The show also takes a look at how different the women are and how they come together via the Nail Salon as well as through their past crimes. Though the women are different, they have a lot in common and must work together to make it. Each woman is tough and dangerous, yet they are trying to make it ahead in life.

Desna lives with and cares for her twin brother Dean who is mentally ill. Jenn is Desna’s best friend who is raising two children from previous relationships with her new husband, Bryce. Jenn and Bryce are now sober and trying to stay out of trouble, which might prove difficult at the Nail Salon. Quiet Ann is the salon’s security, and she’s regularly armed with a baseball bat. She also serves as Desna’s driver. Virginia works at the salon and makes it clear she’d rather be somewhere else. Polly served time in prison for identity theft and brings an abundance of personality to the salon.
