‘Days Of Our Lives’: Drake Hogestyn, Chandler Massey Rave About New Scripts, Expect Goosebumps

Days Of Our Lives fans know that the NBC soap opera has a new head writer. Ron Carlivati, who previously worked on General Hospital and One Life To Live, is working on changing things in Salem. Viewers are hopeful that he will make the long-running series great again. Recently, actors Drake Hogestyn and Chandler Massey revealed their thoughts about the new scripts. One said that he gets goosebumps when reading the new material. Another went to Twitter to rave about the writing being “on fire.”

When fans heard the news that Carlivati was chosen as the new head writer of DOOL, everyone was hoping that the soap opera would improve. Lately, viewers have been upset over certain characters, such as “Chabby” divorcing and Arianne Zucker leaving the series. It isn’t known what will change, but people will find out in a few months when Carlivati’s writing shows up on television screens.

In the meantime, two actors have openly raved about the new scripts. One is Chandler Massey, who is reprising the role of Will Horton on Days Of Our Lives. On Twitter, he mentioned the new head writer in a post. The actor wrote that the scripts were “straight” fire, using three flame emojis. Viewers are interpreting this as a good thing.

Recently, Drake Hogestyn also talked about the new writing, telling Soap Opera Digest that the recent material gives him goosebumps.

“The material lately has been really, really good. It’s getting back to kind of a feeling like — I get some goosebumps sometimes — when I first started years ago. Yeah, there’s soap opera involved, and you have to suspend disbelief a little bit, but it’s going to put characters in a position that shows off their strengths.”

One complaint that fans have expressed on social media is how some of the Salem residents are doing things that are completely out of character. One viewer told Carlivati on Twitter, “Who is this Chad?” The individual was referring to how much Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) has changed, and not in a good way.

There are also people talking about Hope Brady (Kristian Alfonso) and how she took the credit for finding Deimos Kiriakis (Vincent Irizarry) in Greece. She made the arrest, but it was the hard work of JJ Deveraux (Casey Moss) and Lani Price (Sal Stowers) that tracked down the DOOL villain. It was out of character for Hope and the complete opposite of her personality.

Neither actor would share specific Days Of Our Lives spoilers, but Hogestyn did talk about John and Marlena, commonly referred to by fans as “Jarlena.”

“As for John and Marlena, well, what can you say about John and Marlena? They’ve done this a hundred times in past lives, I think, and they’ll continue to do their thing.”

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, fans have been commenting on Ron Carlivati‘s Twitter posts. They are not being shy about sharing what changes they want. Chad and Abigail (Marci Miller) reuniting is one big topic. Another is breaking up Hope and Rafe (Galen Gering), a couple that many fans feel don’t have any romantic chemistry.

Viewers also asked to find a way for Arianne Zucker to stay on board as Nicole Walker, although that isn’t likely to happen. On several occasions, the actress has made it clear that it is time for her to move on to other things. There is also disappointment over Vincent Irizarry leaving. Although Deimos is a villain on Days Of Our Lives, he is an excellent actor and makes one great bad guy. Fans will have to just wait and see to find out what the new head writer has planned for the Salem residents.

What do you think of what Drake Hogestyn and Chandler Massey revealed about the new scripts? Does it give you hope that Days Of Our Lives will improve with Ron Carlivati’s writing?
