Jenelle Evans Is Now Calling Her Mom ‘Barbara,’ Planning Summer Vacation With Jace
Jenelle Evans and her mother are nearly completely estranged after battling in court last week for custody of Evans’ oldest child, son Jace.
Following Evans’ reunion with her 7-year-old, which took place over the weekend after five weeks of the mother and son not seeing one another, the Teen Mom 2 star spoke out about her strained relationship with Barbara Evans, who was given primary custody of Jace last Wednesday.
“I don’t have much interaction with Barbara anymore,” Jenelle Evans revealed to E! News on May 31. “I only speak to her at our drop offs and that’s it. I do not discuss the details of my life with her anymore and it will continue to be that way probably for the rest of my life.”
Jenelle Evans had been fighting her mother for custody of Jace for some time, but because their case was frequently postponed, the judge handling their custody arrangement didn’t make a final decision about who Jace should be living with until one week ago. As fans will recall from Teen Mom 2, Jenelle Evans filed documents in hopes of regaining custody of Jace after deeming herself as a stable parent. Meanwhile, Barbara, who is not a fan of Evans’ fiancé, David Eason, felt that her home was a more stable environment, and ultimately, the judge agreed.
Jenelle Evans also spoke to E! News about her “amazing” visit with Jace over the Memorial Day holiday after sharing several photos of him and her other children, including her 4-month-old daughter, Ensley, on Instagram.
“[Jace] was so happy he didn’t even know what to do first when he got home,” she explained to the outlet. “I was nervous a little bit because I didn’t want Jace thinking it was me that didn’t want to visit with him, but when he arrived everything was back to the way it used to be.”
In addition to sharing Jace with Barbara, Jenelle Evans shares her two-year-old son, Kaiser, with her ex-fiance Nathan Griffith and her youngest child, daughter Ensley, with her current fiancé, David Eason.
Although Barbara Evans and David Eason haven’t gotten along in recent years, Jenelle Evans told E! News that her fiancé teaches her son “guy” things that she was unaware of. She also said that Eason’s oldest child, daughter Maryssa, is Jace’s best friend.
As for what’s next for Jenelle Evans and her oldest son, the reality star told the outlet that she and Eason are currently planning a summer vacation for Jace and the rest of their kids.
“My next visit with him is this upcoming weekend since his summer school break will begin. We are planning on taking the kids on vacation so that should be lots of fun!” Evans explained.
Earlier this year, after revealing plans to marry David Eason this fall, Jenelle Evans told E! News that her mother had not yet been invited to their ceremony.
“The relationship I have with my mother is the same as it has always been, sadly. We have not decided if she will be invited or not. Our relationship is getting more damaged every day, but I have already told her this,” she explained.
Although there may be a slight possibility that Barbara will ultimately be invited to her daughter’s upcoming nuptials, her latest comments seem to hint at otherwise.
Jenelle Evans and her family, including fiancé David Eason and their kids, are currently filming the eighth season of Teen Mom 2. No word yet on a premiere date for the upcoming season.
