‘The 100’ Season 4 Spoilers: EP Explains Why Bellamy And Octavia Were Separated Again

The 100 Season 4 is nearly over. Last week, fans were happy that Bellamy Blake (Bob Morley) kept his word to Octavia (Marie Avgeropoulos). However, many viewers are wondering why they were separated. Recently, executive producer Jason Rothenberg explained why he split up Bellamy and Octavia again.

Spoilers are ahead. If you are not caught up with the post-apocalyptic series, then do not continue reading.

Last season, Octavia was angry with her brother. She blamed him for Lincoln’s (Ricky Whittle) death. Fans were not surprised, since they also held Bellamy responsible for the tragic events. To say Octavia was in a rage would be an understatement. For nearly an entire season, the Blake siblings were separated. However, they did reconcile, only to be separated once again. In an interview with TV Guide, executive producer Jason Rothenberg explained the decision.

“Bellamy and Octavia’s journey this season was in large part about, for Bellamy anyway, realizing that his sister was a grown up and essentially, he needed to let her be her own woman instead of trying to always take care of her. I think some of that, by itself, implies separation so that that could happen.”

As fans of The 100 know, Octavia will be on Earth leading the humans that have survived the second apocalypse. As for Bellamy, he is headed to space with a small group of people. For the next five years, they will be apart. If the Blake siblings both survive, then they will meet again once the radiation threat is over. However, five years is a long time. Rothenberg pondered if they will even be the same people when meeting again. He added that they might not have the same perspective on things and how will they handle having their groups co-exist?

The executive producer also teased that Octavia will face some challenges during the five years in the bunker. The tension will probably not be with the Grounders, at least most of them. However, she will likely have issues with her own people.

“She was the champion of that conclave, and the Grounders respect strength and they respect the charms of that deal. Skaikru, not as much. That will probably be the thorn in her side as a leader. How does she keep these people, who perhaps think they deserve more because they think that they’re better than the Grounders, in check? That will probably be a big challenge for her, for lack of a better word, reign.”

The 100 Season 4 finale airs this Wednesday on The CW network. Spoiler TV published the synopsis for the episode titled “Praimfaya,” which means “apocalypse.”

“It’s a race against the end of the world as Praimfaya arrives forcing our heroes to make impossible decisions to ensure their survival.”

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Lindsey Morgan, who plays Raven Reyes, teased what to expect. The actress would not reveal major spoilers, but did give a few hints. She said it is an action-packed episode that doesn’t stop from beginning to end. She also joked that instead of tissues or wine, fans will need wet naps to wipe away the sweat. Morgan also hinted that something unexpected happens that will set up the story for Season 5.

Fans are curious if the next season will feature a time jump. It is hard to imagine gripping scenes of Bellamy and the others in space. However, finding out what exactly happens with Octavia and the surviving human race in the bunker might be interesting.

What do you think of what Jason Rothenberg had to say about splitting up Bellamy and Octavia again? How will the characters change after five years of being apart? What are your theories for the 100 Season 4 finale?
