Blake Shelton Gushes Over Gwen Stefani During Billboard Music Awards, Says He Is The ‘Luckiest Guy’
Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton attended the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday night.
As they prepare for the end of the 12th season of The Voice, Stefani and Shelton took a break from filming the NBC singing competition’s live episodes and attended the annual awards show, where Shelton took home the award for the Top Country Artist.
After being named as the award recipient, Blake Shelton gave Gwen Stefani a quick kiss before heading to the stage.
“Wow! That was pretty cool. I had a good feeling,” Shelton told the audience, according to a report by People magazine on May 21. “I felt like I was the luckiest guy in the room anyway because [Gwen Stefani] is here with me, so I had a good feeling about it.”
Shelton then thanked his many fans for their ongoing support of his music.
“I know this award is based on facts and industry things, sales and streaming and radio airplay and all that stuff, but I think … if it weren’t for the fans, we wouldn’t have the sales and ticket sales and the airplay,” he said. “Thank you fans, first and foremost.”
During the show, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton were seen having a blast in the front row as they sang along to the performances of their peers and cheered on their fellow musicians.
After attending the awards show on Sunday night, May 21, Gwen Stefani took to Instagram where she shared the photo above. In the caption, she told fans she was hanging out with Billboard’s Top Country Artist and included the hashtags “proud” and “deserving.”
Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton have been dating since late 2015. As fans will recall, the musicians struck up a friendship which later turned romantic after bonding over their summer 2015 divorces from Gavin Rossdale and Miranda Lambert, respectively.
As they filmed the ninth season of The Voice in Los Angeles, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton fell in love and ultimately went public with their relationship during a November 2015 Country Music Awards after party in Nashville, Tennessee. In the weeks that followed, Stefani and Shelton were seen flirting with one another on the show and hanging with Stefani’s three sons, 10-year-old Kingston, 8-year-old Zuma, and 3-year-old Apollo, off set.
Throughout the year and a half they’ve been dating, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton have faced ongoing rumors regarding possible pregnancies and plans to get married. However, at this point, Gwen Stefani does not appear to be pregnant, nor has she been seen wearing an engagement ring.
Although no announcements have been made, a source months ago told People magazine that “they are not engaged yet. Everyone is expecting it to happen at some point, though,” the source explained. “It seems the timing [for an engagement] just hasn’t been right, but [Gwen Stefani] is very, very happy with Blake. She always acts giddy when she talks about Blake.”
“There are no immediate plans for their future, but it’s a serious relationship,” another source added to the magazine.
“[Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton’s] relationship is almost too good to be true,” the Stefani continued. “They are very much alike and really have a very special relationship. All the things that need to work out for two people to merge lives have worked out.”
