Netflix starts June with a bang as Season 4 of The 100 hits our screens. Fans of the show will remember that Season 3 of The 100 ended with Clarke entering the city of light to destroy A.L.I.E. by pulling a kill switch. A.L.I.E. claimed that the world’s abandoned nuclear power plants are in meltdown, and only she could stop the Earth from becoming uninhabitable within six months.

Clarke pulled the switch, and we were left with a cliffhanger as screens showed the plants releasing radiation into the air. Season 4 will see Clarke and The 100 fighting to save the planet while fighting off aggression from the Ice Nation. The 100 has proved to be one of Netflix’s most popular series, so you can be sure fans will be keen to catch the new season.

‘Orange Is The New Black’ Returns To Netflix

A hacker calling himself “The Dark Overlord” leaked 10 episodes of the 13-episode season after claiming that Netflix had not met his demands. It seems that Netflix refused to be held to ransom by the hacker, who demanded money to stop him releasing the shows. Doubtless, many will still tune in Netflix to catch the show when it returns to the streaming service by a more legitimate route.

Also, taking center stage this June is a new Netflix original comedy based on female WWE wrestlers. According to Blasting News, Glow is “billed as a throwback from the 1980’s, comprises an all-female cast, and is filled with laughter and self-discovery.

Netflix Movie News for June 2017

Netflix’s is committed to increasing the number of independent movies that they produce, and June sees the release of You Get Me, starring Bella Thorne. Netflix list the movie as “a thriller [with] all the tropes of a high school drama.

Movie buffs will applaud Netflix for screening more independent movies, but of course, it’s the big blockbusters that we all want to see. When it comes to blockbuster movies, they don’t come much bigger than the Star Wars franchise. Netflix has tied up deals with Disney to release movies from Disney, Marvel, Pixar, and Star Wars to Netflix soon after their theatrical release.

It has been suggested that Moana is Disney’s best animation release in recent years, perhaps second only to Frozen. You will be able to judge for yourself when Moana comes to Netflix in June.

June may also see the arrival of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Rogue One takes place between the events of Star Wars Episode V and VI. Rogue One comes to Netflix just six months after its theatrical release, and Netflix says that it will be its only Star Wars release in 2017.

June looks set to be a hot month on Netflix, whether you prefer to check out a new movie release or binge watch series like The 100.
